Running Accomplishments:

High school (in San Diego) I ran a 16:40 5k and a 4:33 mile.  Have run 11 marathons.

PR - Ogden 2009 - 2:55:10

Haven't done a 5k or 10k or half in a long time.  I just enjoy doing my regular daily runs and then hittin' the Marathons.  I might slip in some shorter/faster races this year.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Drop some more weight (get down to 150),  keep Pr'ing, and try to stay injury free.  Get a 2:46:42 or better in a marathon - I wanna beat Lance's PR!!

Get out on more trails around the valley and enjoy the scenery.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Focus on marathons and possibly ultras? Keep healthy and lean.

Personal:

Married with 2.95 girls.

17 Miles in Provo Canyon.  Parked at Vivian park and planned to run down easy and then run the last 9-10 up the canyon at MP to get used to hills during the second half of Boston.  The uphill during this run is pretty constant and it gains quite a bit over the miles, but thought it would be a good workout.  Felt good.  Averaged 7:01 on the first 8 miles down, then ran 6:49 for the 9 miles up the canyon, for an overall average of 6:54.  Finally a good feeling long run for me.  I've had duds the last 2-3.

Good thinking on working the hills into the late half of your run. Your going to have a great time in Boston!

Wow, that is a great time moving back up the canyon. Are you sure you don't want to go for the sub 3 with me at Boston? That training run tells me you are more than ready. Now get some good tapering in so the legs will be rested.

Rhett,

I've been debating the whole 'go for broke' or be conservative for the last month. I don't know about sub 3. I guess I get miffed by how it seems that everyone underperforms at Boston. I'm really worried about the humidity, because I sweat a lot, and if it is pretty humid, I'll be in trouble. I guess I'll have to make a 'gametime' decision given wide range of conditions we could be facing, but I did feel good about the run yesterday, along with some of my recent runs. How many miles are you planning on this week/next?

Jon,

Thanks for the encouragement! We need to do a canyon run one of these days. 'nuff talking about it!

I was just figuring my milage for this up comming week. Looks like I'll be right around 43 again, but nothing too hard. I'll do some easy repeats tonight. Wed. I'll do a 6 mile tempo run, Sat I'll do 13 with the first 10 easy around 7:45 and the last 3 at 6:50.

All my other runs will be at an easy pace and not longer than 6 miles. I don't know what I'll do the next week yet, but I'll cut it way back.
