Running Accomplishments:

High school (in San Diego) I ran a 16:40 5k and a 4:33 mile.  Have run 11 marathons. 

PR - Ogden 2009 - 2:55:10

 

Haven't done a 5k or 10k or half in a long time.  I just enjoy doing my regular daily runs and then hittin' the Marathons.  I might slip in some shorter/faster races this year.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Drop some more weight (get down to 150),  keep Pr'ing, and try to stay injury free.  Get a 2:46:42 or better in a marathon - I wanna beat Lance's PR!!

Get out on more trails around the valley and enjoy the scenery.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Focus on marathons and possibly ultras? Keep healthy and lean.

Tired!  TM @ 2% incline.  2.5 at 7:30 pace, 2.5 miles at 6:27/mile just to do get something in.  Dinner wasn't sitting well, and I didn't want to push it too long.  ran next 5 at 7:30 pace.

about 7:15 overall pace.

19 Miles on trail.  After 5 miles, did 5 miles at 6:31 pace.  Finished with 7:36/mile overall pace.  Good run considering my immune system is in overdrive with cold.

10 miles on treadmill @ 2 % incline.  2 miles at 7:30/mile and then 7 at 6:31 and last .9 at 6:00/mile.  Felt really good and relaxed at end.  Overall 6:40/mile.  I'm starting to question whether or not my treadmill is calibrated right.  I always used to feel my treadmill and trail runs were pretty similiar, but now my treadmill runs seem so much easier.  I'm not sure if the motor wears down and doesn't keep the same speed over time or not, but I'd like to test it out.  Does anyone have a measuring wheel?

A.M. 10 easy on treadmill at 8:27/mile pace.  2% incline.  Tired from last night's run.  Felt good though to get a morning run in.  I'll try to transition over to 100% morning running.

20 Miles on trail 8:15/mile average.  Really drained.  Saw Sasha & Jeff on trail doing their tempo run.  Had to decline Sasha's invitation to run as much of it with them as I could.  I think that would have been 1/10th of a mile.  I usually have to really regulate my long runs to try and keep them slow, but today it just came natural.  I couldn't have gone any faster if I tried.

I did an early treadmill run.  10 Miles, 8:00/mile average.  I actually restarted the TM 3 times because I swore it was going at 6:00 pace when it said 8:00!!  I finally came to grips that it was actually 8:00 pace and I was just beat up.  It's funny how in the matter of one week I think the TM isn't going as fast as it says, and then another run I think it's too fast.  The constant ups and downs are what make running fun and frustrating at the same time.

10 Miles on trail with the family.  I pushed the girls in the stroller/trailer to the park and back for a total of about 5.5 miles and ran 4.5 alone in between.  Mixed some 6:30 miles in there and even ran the last mile pushing the stroller in 6:19.  Good run.

6:57 average.

10.30 Miles on trail.  7:14 overall pace.  6 miles pushing the stroller and then 4.3 alone.  Ran a little with Sasha and discussed goal time for Boston.  He's encouraging me to aim for a 1:35 first half and then push it the second half if I'm able.  I think it's sound advice, but I know my ego will get in the way and I'll push it harder and crash the end of the race.  I do feel like I'm in just as good of shape as I was for St. George, but I want to be cautiously optimistic.  I'm not stressed about it.  I'll enjoy it whatever happens.

Happy about run.  Was planning on just a 7:30-8:00 run, but it just came naturally today.  Felt really relaxed the whole time.

22 Miles on trail.  Exactly 8:00/mile average.  Was pretty consistent on the miles.  Pretty zapped today, and despite the slower pace, it was a much tougher effort than it should have been for a long run.  I think I started the run pretty dehydrated and without enough carb replacement after yesterday's runs.  I didn't take any liquids or gels as usual, but felt it a lot more today.

10 Miles on treadmill.  7:27/mile average pace.  Did about 4 miles of it at 5-6% incline at between .5-1 mile at a time.  Felt really fresh and relaxed.  Reloaded with a ton of carbs this weekend and I think I've been running a lot lately undernourished.

15 Miles.  Did a tempo run as long as I could go.  Started with .5 warmup, and did 10.50 on trail/road and averaged 6:31/mile for the 10.50.  4 mile cool down.  Felt good about the run.  Wore the heart rate monitor and it gradually climbed up to 178 at the end of the tempo.

20.20 Miles on trail. Again, another drained long run. 7:41/mile average. Effort felt harder than I thought it should be. Actually felt better though 2nd half of run and mixed in some 7:00 and just sub 7:00 miles. I know how good I can feel on "good" days, and hope that a lot of my feeling has to do with bad habits with sleeping/eating/lack of drinking. I'm really going to try to get some more sleep these next few weeks and see what that does for me.

10 Miles in Lehi.  Watching our nieces at their house, so went out for a run at 10pm on the dark road that parallels the freeway and headed up the hill and then down into Draper past the prison.  Had a nasty JCW burger and fries sitting in my throat ready to come out the entire run.  I actually liked the place before the burger I had tonight.  You know how if you throw up from food poisoning, you have a hard time eating that food again?  Well that run did it for me for JCW's even though I never threw up.  I actually ran okay despite the setback. Averaged 7:06/mile and finished with some sub 6:20 miles on the downhill. 

I didn't intend to gross anybody out if they're reading this!
